This conversation unpacks how Zowie Crump from The Art of Zowie Photography, based in Mathoura, thought outside the box when all her wedding, family and school photo sessions were cancelled, and also how Julianne Daly from Moama’s Border Inn Hotel shifted quickly to offering take away services and focused on the importance of community when they had to turn all the lights out.
This inspiring conversation is a great example of small regional businesses tapping into their resilience, relying on the local community and their ability to adapt quickly when circumstances literally change overnight.
Specifically, Zowie talks about The Front Door Project, which not only kept her camera clicking but also provided local families with precious images from a very significant time in history.
Julianne talks about the sense of community that is lost when the local pub closes its doors, but also how this challenging time also brought people together – in a different way – and galvanised their staff.
During this conversation Julianne also discusses the success and challenges of offering takeaway using the app Bopple and Zowie explains how an app called Road Warrior helped her locate hundred of family homes across the region without getting lost!
We hope you enjoy the conversation and look forward to delivering more episodes throughout the month of October in partnership with Murray River Council for the NSW Government Small Business Month’s Festival of Small Business.
