We’ve got some *big* news
‘We must accept the end of something in order to begin to build something new’
After almost 10 years in partnership, Christy has decided to step away from her role as co-director here at The Splendid Word, to allow her more time to support her husband Troy in their family’s real estate business.
While I’ll be taking over the reins as sole director, Christy will still be on deck two days a week in a client manager/content creation role, offering her ongoing expertise, support and guidance to our TSW clients.
Christy has poured her heart and soul into this business over the past decade and it’s been her baby, as much as it’s been mine. Understandably this has been an incredibly tough decision for her to make, and an emotional time for us both.
I love Christy with all my heart and dearly wish our partnership could continue forever, but I know it’s a time of exciting change in their family business, and her priority absolutely needs to lie there.
One thing I will say though, is that I’m going to miss having her beside me in this partnership role intensely. Hand on heart, she has been the greatest business partner I could ever have hoped to have.
As you know, our company ethos has always been built around using our words for good. Christy and I wholeheartedly believe that words are the most powerful vehicle for connecting, inspiring and creating positive change in the world. We believe that when we take genuine care of the impact that our words have inside our own heads and on the lives of all those we encounter, magic happens.
And we’re living proof of that. Building and running a business around young families, sharing a partnership long-term, and then managing huge change like this, is never easy. It’s uncertain, it’s scary, it’s emotional…and it can get messy if you’re not careful.
In navigating change like this, you need to be willing to listen, to be open, brave, kind and vulnerable. And that’s exactly what we’re doing. We’re holding true to our company ethos, and working through the next steps with a deep sense of respect and admiration for one another and for what we have created here together.
So while this time marks the end of an era for us running this beautiful grassroots agency together, we part ways on the very best of terms and as the very best of friends. And we’re so proud of that.
It’s going to take us some time over the next few months sorting out the finer details, and making some changes internally, but on the outside things will look no different. Christy will still be here, alongside our amazing freelance team in Katie, Kendra, Fiona, Corinda and Sally, radiating her trademark positivity and doing what she does best in crafting splendid words.
We step forward into this next new phase with excitement, gratitude and open hearts.
Thanks to you all for believing in us and our work.
