In case you hadn’t heard, it’s kind of a big day on the Australian music calendar for talented Echuca Moama export Benny Walker.
Today marks the official release of the Indigenous singer/songwriter’s new single ‘Oh No You Don’t’ – and we’ve gotta say, it’s pretty epic.
Benny wrote the song as a triumph over, and a big “F You” to mental illness.
“That feeling that you’ve learnt to – for the most part – be one step ahead of anxiety, knowing the familiar warning signs and using your own experience to deal with it,” he says.
Oh No You Don’t was written by Benny at home in Moama and was recorded at Way Of The Eagles studios in Melbourne with Aria Award winning producer Jan Skubiszewski (The Cat Empire, John Butler Trio, Dan Sultan).
Ahead of its official release today, the new single was picked up for a pre-release spin on 774 ABC Melbourne last week and the video clip was premiered exclusively by Rolling Stone Australia on Wednesday.
We’ve had a listen, and in our humble opinion, it’s going to be huge. It’s an incredibly soulful and vulnerable tune that taps into a theme so, so many music fans will relate to.
You can grab yourself a digital download of Oh No You Don’t at ITunes, Google Play, Amazon and most digital retailers. The new video single is available on YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook. You can also stream the new song on Spotify and iHeartRadio.

We’re a patriotic bunch at EM and know you’ll all join with us in #spreadingthegoodsstuff and wishing this home-grown music legend the absolute best as he releases his new song into the musical stratosphere.
Best of luck Benny.
