This week in our #spreadingthegoodstuff series we celebrate the imminent opening of stage 2 of the redevelopment of Echuca Regional Health.
The hospital’s new front entrance and emergency department in Service Street will open to the public at midday on Tuesday in an historic day for our twin town community.
The new facility packs a punch of wow factor and is a true credit to the many people who have played a role in bringing it to fruition.
The striking new front entrance, replete with red gum timber bollards hanging like stalactites from the high-pitched ceiling, is a view to behold – as is the spacious new emergency waiting room, emergency department, spiritual rooms and pharmacy.
These latest building works follow on from stage one of the hospital redevelopment which included 54 acute beds, 24 rehabilitation beds and a new imaging department which was completed in June last year.
Since the redevelopment commenced, our open-hearted community has pledged more than $3 million to this project – an outstanding display of neighbourhood support and spirit.
The beds, the chairs, the monitors and trolleys all form part of a long list of equipment that has been funded by the men and women of Echuca Moama.
By smashing the minimum fundraising goal of $2.4 million out of the park, our hospital has been able to move beyond the standard equipment fit out, to a wishlist of items including world-class equipment not normally seen in a country hospital.
Take a collective bow EM – you have done yourself proud.

Were you among the 1500 to get along to last Sunday’s tour of the new facility? We’d love to know your first impressions.
