Last weekend Melbourne hosted its annual Run Melbourne event which witnessed a bunch of amazingly generous people digging deep and pushing themselves for the Johnno’s Run team. This group of 126 people, from Echuca, Moama, Shepparton, Bendigo, Melbourne and Gippsland, trained their buts off and flexed their fundraising muscle to raise a whopping $78,000 (and counting) for the Opening Doors Project. What an amazing effort from an incredibly generous community.
All this hard work and determination has us tipping our hats to a group of individuals and their supporters – financial and moral – for raising much needed funds for Community Living and Respite Services (CLRS) and the Opening Doors Project. This project, encompassing supported accommodation, will set a new standard for independent living in Echuca Moama with state-of-the-art technology and real choice around how individuals with disability choose to live.
This project will profoundly change the lives of those accessing this wonderful facility, and provide assurance for families who can feel confident their loved ones will be supported with long term accommodation into the future.
Even though Johnno’s Team has put away its runners for the time being, it’s not too late to throw your support behind the Opening Doors Project and make a donation at Everyday Hero.
As a local ambassador for the project I encourage you to find out more about the ground breaking work CLRS is doing to support people living with disability in our community.
Three cheers for the Johnno’s Run team and all at CLRS – hip, hip, hooray!
Christy
